The Maryborough RSL has been supporting and welcoming veterans, returned service members and the wider community for over 60 years. We’re proud to be a local RSL club changing with the needs of our members while always offering premium services, entertainment and support.
Support the sub-branch, veterans, members and the local community through the provision of a diverse range of products, services, grants and community donations whilst improving sales and profits for the benefit of our veterans and the community.
100 years ago, the Great War had just ended and the adjustment to peacetime life had only just begun. In Maryborough, returning diggers were getting to know family and friends again while looking for work. RSLs, known then as the Returned Soldiers Sailors and Airmen Imperial League of Australia, began to offer assistance and support to the brave people who fought for our country. The Maryborough Sub-Branch was formed on 10 October 1917. One of the longest formed sub-branches within Australia, the Maryborough RSL purchased the 170 Bazaar Street building. The club was formed in 1955, followed by the addition of a bar. Pokie machines were added in 1992, to the excitement of many members. We’ve experienced considerable support since our inception and have grown to meet the changing needs of veterans and the wider community. With the decision to expand facilities and services offered, we moved into the Northern Warehouse building bordered by Adelaide and Lennox Streets. The move took place on ANZAC Day in 1996, with our Bazaar Street building closings its doors as the parade marched to the cenotaph for the ANZAC Day commemoration service. Following the service, the parade marched to our new and current premises. The RSL continues to evolve to accommodate and embrace members new and old. We’re proud to support our veterans and returned service members while being a leading community club and social spot.
